Slaughter House-Music (not actually house music)

You Dropped a Bomb on Me by: The Gap Band
While my reason may seem obvious, they are. To add some comedic relief to the fire bombing at Dresden, I thought it would play along nicely to have this wonderful addition playing softly in the back ground, murmured out during the verse, but becoming more intense during the chorus, "You dropped a bomb on me"

Skyfall by: Adele
This song, in my mind, will be playing very faintly the scene before Billy Pilgrim is to die. He knows when he will be killed, and it would be a nice foreshadow for the viewers to be hearing this song in the background. The song will fade even lower when we get to see Billy in front of everyone, and it will stop cold when Billy gets shot. It will then come in full force when the credits roll (since the movie just ends at that point).

Crazy Train by: Ozzy Osbourne
Oh, Valencia. The only scene in the movie where she has a significant roll, her disgusting road displayed, should be accommodation with this song. I know and get that there is no train here, but she meets the requirements for a train wreck. She is a bat out of hell, and this song should be playing loud and proud out of her radio in the car. Full blast.

Stacy's Mom by: Fountains of Wayne
So, I know there is not scene where the premise of the song really fits in. The aspect of this song I want to tie in is the ending of the music video... yes... the little boy... 'occupying' the bathroom. Adding this song does nothing for the plot nor does it help by relating, but for those who have seen the music video, it will be a little *wink wink nudge nudge* type deal. It will be playing faintly in the background as Billy enters the house and getting louder as he approaches the bathroom, until the.. climax... of the song is hit and ends suddenly like the video...

Man Down by: Rihanna
I would stare this song with the line "What started out as a simple situation ended up in a real sticky situation" and play "rum pum pum pum rum pum pum pum man down" so on and so forth for the death of Edgar Derby. I think those parts fit perfectly with the whole dying over something so small and stupid. The whole song wouldn't play, just the fitting parts.

Don't Cross Me by: Ron Browz
Paul Lazzaro, the giant *Bleep* he is, needs a theme song. If you only listen to the first part of the song, you feel like the song is about Paul. It talks about killing people if they cross you and that everyone should know not to mess with him. Perfect for Lazzaro... and funny since Paul is a white dude

FEATURED SONG:

Sh*t Luck by: Modest Mouse
Come on, the song starts "THIS PLANE IS DEFINITELY CRASHING" followed by a series of random noises and riffs that just give you the sense of chaos. How funny would that be to play in Billy's head while the plane takes off and while he looks out the window at the people outside. It would represent the frantic thoughts in his head, but show the calm exterior on camera.

  1. Matt, it looks like you really thought about your songs in depth. Especially in the "Stacy's Mom" song, which was hilarious, the fact that you thought about a scene that seemed kind of minor in the movie showed that you really thought about the movie in its entirety when you were putting this playlist together. Good job!

  2. The playlist is full of great songs that I would have never thought of but work perfectly! Using "Skyfall" by Adele has got to be my favorite. I can just imagine the scene now with the song playing. I also like how you chose some ironically funny songs like "You Dropped a Bomb on Me." Very clever.
